Seed for the Soul

Message from Pastor Hull…….

Greetings all.  It is now the season of preparation for Hollydale UMC.   We as pastors have been given permission by the Bishop to start re- gathering under the conditions that our conference has outlined.  There is much to do before we can announce a date; however, I am excited that it is now in our hands to set the target date.  Let us now be about the work of preparing, gathering, ordering, and communicating the essential things needed for Phase I of our return to public worship.  There is a word for this Sunday as well. “Seed for the Soul“   Matthew 13: 18-23

The Upper Room

The Upper Room that provides bi-monthly devotional booklets wants to continue to support churches and subscribers during this time of pandemic when distribution of the devotional guide can be more difficult.  All churches and individuals with active subscriptions can access a PDF copy of both The Upper Room and El Aposento Alto at the link below.  This is a private page for subscribers only, which Hollydale UMC is one and distribution to our members is permitted.  Please do not share the web link with others. Rest for the Weary

Good morning.  As this week progresses, my prayer is that you are finding the strength, determination and faith to see the rainbow at the end of this pandemic or whatever life has challenged you with this week. A few things to pass along……..

·        The Bishop of the North GA Conference has extended the shelter in place for Methodist churches untilJune 22nd.  

·        GROW Camp originally scheduled for June at Hollydale has been cancelled.  All camps that work through Camp Glisson are cancelled due to COVID-19.

·        Hollydale UMC is a polling precinct and the next primary has been rescheduled for June 9th and a protocol has been established to protect all those involved in that process.

Pastor and Other Updates

/

Good morning to you all!  A few updates to share with you for this week. 

Pastor Hull saw his doctor today for his shoulder injury and rotator cuff.  He said there were mixed reviews.  His rotator cuff has healed nicely and will probably not require surgery.  YEAH!  As for shoulder blade, he did sustain a fracture and it is taking longer to heal which limits the amount of rehab he can do.  Prayers for continued healing!

The Annual Conference, which is usually held in June has been rescheduled for August 29 & 30, reduced to two days (Fri & Sat) so pastors can be back in their church on Sunday. Dan Wier is our Lay Delegate and he and Sheila will be attending as Hollydale's representative, along with our pastor and his wife Stacy.  Also, Reverend David Wilson & Carolyn are regular annual attendees. 

To celebrate Holy Communion this upcoming Sunday, May 3rd, Pastor Hull is making himself available Tuesday-Fridayfrom 9:30 am to 1:00 pm at the church to hand out a prepackaged waver & juice so that all who want can join in communion on Sunday morning via Facebook live.  The elements have already been blessed and available for pickup during that time frame.  If you are unable to go to the church to get yours, please let us know and we can arrange to bring it to you.  They will be placed in a Ziploc bag for protection.  What a wonderful way to still have communion together!

As an update, Bishop Sue of the North Georgia United Methodist Conference has extended the “no gathering” rule until Sunday, May 10th for our churches.  Something to look forward to!  Please continue to pray, spend some quiet time with God and listen to what he has to share with you each day.  Stay safe, follow the guidelines of the CDC and medical experts and soon we will be together again with our church family to worship!
