Hollydale is going to the Camp Meeting this Sunday night!

MESSAGE FROM PASTOR APRIL…

This Sunday evening, July 15, at 7:30 PM our D.S. has invited us all to Marietta Campground located at 2300 Roswell Road, Marietta just across Roswell Road from East Cobb United Methodist Church.  This is the first Sunday evening of their 2018 annual Camp Meeting and they have designated it as the ‘Atlanta-Marietta District Night’.  We are to be their honored guests.

I used to stay the week often at Camp Meeting in PA with my Uncle Ted and his family.  It is a tradition that goes back to when Methodism first came to this country before the Revolutionary War.

The D.S. shares his thoughts on it in the following paragraphs:

What is important is that we gather to share in this wonderful ministry tradition located within the bounds of our district.  It is our opportunity to share our connection with each other through an instrument of ‘revival’ that God has used across the years to renew God’s church and to reach the world for Christ.

The word ‘respect’ (re-spicere) literally means ‘to look again’.  The journey of God’s people across time is full of moments when God renewed and reached a deeper place in people’s souls.  Various instruments, some that became traditions, God has used…Camp Meeting, a time to step aside focus intently on matters of the soul, has been such an instrument.  I ‘respect’ the movement of God’s Spirit across the years and will ‘look again’ for the wind of that Spirit this Sunday evening.

Let’s support this ministry of our district and wait togetherfor the Spirit of God.  “…those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

Eagle Scout Project

Daniel Duke is a Life Scout with Troop 757 at Hollydale UMC and is working on his Eagle Scout project.  He shared his project with the congregation yesterday at church and what a great idea and opportunity for Calvary Children’s Home.  Below is a message from Daniel about himself and the project.  Also below are two links, one to support Daniel financially through a gofundme.com page to purchase the items he has mentioned and a link to Calvary Children’s Home that is located on Lost Mountain Road in Powder Springs.  You can also help by providing some of the materials he has listed in his message below as well as yarn for knitting & crocheting that was added last night and can bring them by the church if you would like or can contact Daniel or his mother Trisha via email and coordinate how to get the items to him. Their emails are above.  Daniel plans to put together 75 bags and the deadline is Sunday, January 21st, so please keep the timing in mind.  Please pray for Daniel and the children’s home as they work together to give these foster children something of their own.  Thank you for your prayers and consideration.

Hello and happy new year. My name is Daniel Duke, and I am a Senior in the North Cobb High School magnet program and plan to attend

Kennesaw State University for a degree in Computer Science. I joined Pack 757 in 2006 as a first grader, and am now a member of Troop 757.

I'm currently working on my BSA Eagle Project and am gathering donations for contributing to the Calvary Children’s Home in the form

of care packages for the children in transition as well as those who reside there.  My aim is to collect drawstring bags to fill with

things like Bibles, toiletries (shampoo, deodorant, sunscreen chap stick, etc.), socks, blankets, brushes, combs, umbrellas, make-up,

sunglasses, ball caps, toboggans; all of which will go into making a package each child may call their own. Other things we desire to

collect are craft supplies, balls, frisbees, and other assorted items the children can enjoy communally.

If you are interested in a wonderful philanthropy opportunity to share or assist with my project by making a contribution of any of

these materials or similar items you think the children may benefit from having, or simply a monetary donation, it will be greatly

appreciated. To learn more about Calvary Children’s Home, visit their site athttp://www.calvarykids.org. Thanks for your consideration and

all you currently do in support of all children, their educations and future.

Sincerely, Daniel Orion Duke

Prayer Request

Please keep Nicole Keyser in your prayers.  Nicole was diagnosed a few weeks ago with MRSA which is aninfection caused by a type of staph bacteria that's become resistant to many of the antibiotics used to treat ordinary staph infections. She has experienced multiple sores throughout her body and is undergoing treatment by an infectious disease doctor.  She is healing, but has shared today that she still has some sores that keep bleeding.  Please pray for healing for Nicole and that this terrible infection is gone very soon.  Thank you.

Update and message from Pastor April…….

Hello, Hollydale Family!  Thank you for praying for Miss Nita.  The doctors discovered a UTI and are working to get her hydrated enough to recieve the antiobiotics she needs interveniously.  She is in Green Tower, Room 763.  Please, whether you know her or not, stop in to see her to share the love and hope of Christ not only with our dear sister Miss Hilt but with her room mate as well.  There is no better way for folks to see who Christ is than through the love and hope that shines through each one of you!I recommend visits of 15 minutes or less as Miss Nita is tired and needs to rest.  Please take a card of encouragement to Miss Nita so she and her family will remember you visited.  Please take a card of encouragement for her room mate as well as God leads you.Thank you for your compassionate heart for Christ and the deep walk of being His disciple.  It is a joy to see!In His Service Pastor April 678.571.7818

Church Canceled December 10, 2017

MESSAGE FROM PASTOR APRIL......

Due to the weather conditions and possible road hazards tomorrow morning on many of the side roads, Hollydale will not meet for services but suggest you have church at home with your loved ones.  The Peace of Christ comes into our lives when we are still and know that God is mighty.  Meditate upon Psalm 27:14.  Tomorrow morning be still and look outside and see God's power and work.  Be still and know that it is in Christ that we rest.

Open your Bible together and share some time in the scriptures.  Have a BLESSED Sunday!
