Hollydale Pumpkin Patch!

Spread the word so folks are buying their pumpkins from our Hollydale UMC Patch!

  • Share that all the money is split between the church & the Navajo Indian Reservation in NM.

  • Share there is face painting, pumpkin carving, story time, & pumpkin painting on sight.

  • Share that on Fridays from 2-4pm there will be Pamper the Pets where the kids can come interact with animals (rabbit, turtle, dog) and help raise money for the Girl Scouts.

  • The pumpkins are reminding us of our most powerful weapon/tool for living well.  Challenge your friends, coworkers, and people you don't know standing next to you in line at the checkout to stop by and see if they can figure out what the pumpkins are reminding them to do.

Truck To Houston - Food & Help For Hurricane Hit Families

I just found out that Pastor Roberto has secured a whole truck load of food from Atlanta Food Bank! Praise the Lord!  AFB is donating it to the Houston area.  This Sunday after the 11am service, the Powder Springs Hispanic community is hosting a luncheon to raise money to pay a truck driver to drive the food to Houston.  All are invited.

Additionally, if anyone wants to go to help the community of Houston, there is a group going from Thursday to Sunday of next week.  Contact Pastor April if you want to go.

If you want to help with supplies for those going, bring any of the following to Hollydale UMC this Sunday and place them under the altar.  We are collecting scrub brushes, buckets, garbage bags, gloves, soap-Dawn, Clorox bleach, shovels, paint brushes/rollers, paint pans, paint, and most of all prayers!

Pray for those suffering and families who have lost loved ones in Mexico.  Pray for those facing devastation in Puerto Rico.  May all lean upon the Savior and draw close to God.

Blessings!

Tiffany Evans' - Fundraiser and Building Days on Habitate Home Now till Aug. 26th!

Please reserve Sept. 3rd for Tiffany Evans’ “Down payment & needed household items Fundraiser”.  Tiffany will serve Chicken Alfredo, salad, and bread that Sunday after our worship services.  She welcomes any support you can provide.

Her goal is $3,000 which will give Tiffany her down payment, pick out a new washer, dryer, beds, couch, and other needed items.  If you want to give Tiffany something towards this, it is not tax deductible, and the check should be given directly to her, not the church.

Also, any Saturday before August 26th that anyone 18 or older wants to help with building the Habitat house can now just text Tiffany at 404.883.4916 the week before and plan to be there on Saturday.  Any amount of time will make a big difference!  Come out and show the Hollydale UMC love - bring your friends & family with you!  Let them know you are from Hollydale UMC when you show up for the build!

Bishop's Special Offering @ Annual Conference

The North Georgia United Methodist Annual Conference is just around the corner (June 13-15) and as in past years, the Bishop chooses a special mission or fund to support and request that churches join in support with a one-time gift delivered at the annual conference.  For 2017, the Ministerial Education Fund (MEF) has been chosen.  Below is a short description of the purpose of this fund. Pastor April was a recipient of this fund while she was in seminary.  Over the next couple of Sundays, Hollydale will be taking up an offering to support the MEF and ask that you pray and consider supporting this fund with a special donation.  Please mark your checks on the stub “MEF” so we can account for it as a designated gift and place in the offering plate.  This special offering is above and beyond your normal tithes and giving and we appreciate your support.  Thank you.

The Ministerial Education Fund has helped thousands of men and women become pastoral leaders in The United Methodist Church. Chances are seminary students from your congregation or the pastor of your church was a recipient of MEF. It is nurtured and funded by United Methodists to provide scholarships to seminary and undergraduate students, course-of-study for local pastors, and license to preach school.

MEF is a general church apportioned fund of which 25 percent is retained by our conference. But 100 percent of the giving to the Annual Conference Special Offering will go to United Methodist seminary and course of study students in the North Georgia Conference.

Raising up servant leaders is part of our call to make disciples, and this call is addressed in part by our giving to the Ministerial Education Fund (MEF).

Grants from the Ministerial Education Fund help pay tuition and other costs for future clergy who will serve our churches or go on to be chaplains, teachers and missionaries.
