Update on Ruth Davenport

Gail Black received an update from Ruth Davenport’s sister and wanted to share with those who know Ruth.  Below is the message from Louise, Ruth’s sister.  Please keep Ruth in your prayers as she travels this journey of memory loss and Louise for recovery from her fall and injury to her hip.

Ruth seems to stay about the same.  Usually when I visit, she talks continuously but it’s just words, not anything that makes sense.  So sad.  Just can’t imagine what garbles the brain.  She seems content.  I am recovering from a fall with a broken hip.  I am doing very well and I go see Ruth every week.  She still knows me and occasionally I hear her say Tip.  I hope all of you Marietta friends are well.

Prayer Request

Please keep Karen Berta in your prayers. Karen was admitted to Cobb Wellstar Hospital and is undergoing some tests. She is having severe difficulty in moving her legs and can’t walk. She’s been struggling for a while. They have indicated she will not be able to return to her apartment as she can’t take care of herself. Prayers for answers, comfort and healing for Karen. Thank you.

Update

UPDATE FROM RICK ON FRED’S SURGERY AND CONDITION…..Continued prayers needed as he recovers from the surgery and heals.  Thank you.

Fred’s heart catheterization went well and thankfully he has no major blockages. They are going to change his blood pressure medicines and send him home later tonight. He’ll need to rest up the next few days but seems like he will be fine.  Thank you God!

Prayer Request

Please keep Fred Birk in your prayers.  Received a text from Rick letting me know Fred is being admitted to Cobb Hospital for overnight observation due to chest pain and elevated blood pressure.  His BP was 215 /120!  They've given him meds and the BP is gradually dropping, it was 166/90 at 7:30 pm.  He still has the chest pain.  Please pray for answers and healing for Fred.  Thank you.

Backpack Blessings Support Needed

Hollydale’s Backpack Blessings Ministry will be starting back in September and we need your support in continuing to serve the children at Hollydale Elementary. This is a vital ministry for the children who struggle with not having meals over the weekends during the school year.  We purchase the food through the donations we receive and last school year we served 159 children every week throughout the school year.  We need volunteers to help pack the bags on Thursday and to deliver them on Friday around 11am.  These tasks only take a couple hours each out of your day.  We will have a brief meeting on September 8th following our worship service for those interested in volunteering.  We’ve supported Hollydale Elementary School for several years and want to continue to help those children in need.  Please plan to stay for the meeting on the 8th to find how you can help!

Prayer Request

Good afternoon Hollydale Family,

I received the email below from Marsi Arcaro(Toni Cox’s daughter) requesting prayer for her health concerns and pending answers to them.  Please keep Marsi and her family in your prayers as they go through this journey and answers bringing good results.  Thank you.

Hi Susan, I would love if the community could lift me up in prayer. I went in for an MRI for my shoulder and they discovered that I have an enlarged thyroid with several nodules. They then referred me for an ultrasound. They now say that based on the ultrasound, I need to have 2 of the nodules biopsied. I am getting the run around with doctors. They are saying I now need to see an ENT and the earliest I can get in is September. Please pray that I can be seen sooner and get good results. Thanks so much! Marsi Arcaro

Prayer Request

From Susan Davis

Please keep my family friend Cortland Simons in your prayers.  Cortland is 39 years old and has been going through a lot of struggles and changes in the last several months, some good, some not so good.   He’s battled with depression and alcoholism and has now been sober since September 2023 (Praise God!), he’s been dealing with personal health issues, he has two sons with one being an autistic teenage who requires special care 24/7 and his wife walked out on her family and filed for divorce.  Their divorce was final on Monday.  He is struggling and needs our prayers and encouragement.   God has this and will bring Cortland to the other side where he will find the balance he needs in his life, hopefully feel some stress relief as time moves forward and happiness again.  In God’s time.  We ask for your prayers and if you would like to send him a note or card of encouragement, his address is below.  Thank you.

Received the below prayer request from Debra Bozeman relating to her sister-in-law Linda.  Please keep Linda and the family in your prayers for answers and a safe return.  Thank you.

Susan could you please ask the church to be in prayer for Nate's sister Linda. Linda has been missing since Sunday. She suffers from a mental disorder and is without her medication. She lives with Nate's dad now and he is getting up in age. To make a long story short, for some reason he did not report her missing until Tuesday. We are so scared right now. We are praying that she is somewhere safe. Thank you.
