Update

Please be in prayer for Bonnie Zeggert and her family. She shared with me just a few minutes ago that Karl went to be with our Lord this morning. He had a heart attack. Bonnie and her daughter Heather were able to go in and be with him to tell him goodbye. His sons Buddy, Tim and David were able to be on the phone to say goodbye as well. Bonnie shared that Karl wanted his body to be donated to Syracuse University but because of the distance from Syracuse, it would take too long to transport. She said "in the end he went from us very peacefully." Please pray for comfort and peace for the family as they grieve the loss of their loved one. Thank you.

Update

Saturday- 2/13

I have good news! Praise God!

Karl had a temporary pacemaker put in yesterday, his heart rate is staying at a constant 60. It was dropping to the low 20’s, which is much too low. His kidneys are healing and he does not need dialysis. His lungs are healing and not collapsing with every move. He still has a blood infection and this infection has set up in the lungs. He on a very strong antibiotic. He is still intubated and on a ventilator. On Monday and Tuesday they are putting in a feeding tube and a tracheotomy so they can remove the ventilator from his mouth. He has been in ICU for 24 days and intubated for 16 days. I am looking forward to him being able to open his eyes and smile.

Sunday – 2/14

Today Karl had a fever! They are trying to find the source of the problem. Dr. Winer, his surgeon, told Heather and I that he will take 15 steps forward and 8 steps back. I pray that this is just a small set back.

From his daughter Heather…..However, he is not doing well today. It looks like he has a brain bleed. His medical team is fighting hard for him.

Update and Prayer Request

My Dad isn’t doing all that well. He is on a ventilator, having some heart troubles, and every time he is moved his lungs collapse. He doesn’t have cdif and his kidneys are working better. My mom has been given the ability to go in and see him. Every day seems like a new challenge. Keep him, us and everyone involved in his care in your prayers and thoughts.

A little goods newsfrom Bonnie!

Susan, I have good news! Karl is starting to turn around. He still has pneumonia but is on minimal O2, the nose tube has been taken out today ( pray that the intestines and the ability to swallow will work), the doctor is doing a CT tomorrow to see if they can remove one of the 2 drains in his stomach. He is extremely weak and will be in the hospital about 2 weeks after being moved from ICU. Then he will be placed in rehab until he get his strength back. He has a long road but I feel he can make it!

Update from Bonnie on Karl.

God is good!

Karl called me this morning! He is very weak but he had enough energy to call!

The doctor called later in the morning and said that he is doing so much better. He is breathing again and his lungs are opening up. They had collapsed. He could move Karl out if ICU but because it is the weekend so he’ll wait.

Answered prayers!

Prayer Request

Please keep Karl Zeggert in your prayers. Bonnie posted the message below and I’m sharing so all prayer warriors can support them.

Please add Karl Zeggert, my husband, to your prayer. His surgery is scheduled for Wednesday (20th). He has to be at St Joseph in Atlanta at 5:30 am. He has a cancerous polyp in the small intestine. The oncologist has 3 options for surgery and he won’t know which option he’ll be performing until he opens the duodenum and looks at the polyp. There is a 70% chance that the surgery will be the Whipple. This surgery takes upwards of 8 hours. This is the surgery that takes the entire duodenum, 1/3 of the pancreas, 2 of the 3 bio ducts and the gallbladder.

I can not go into the hospital at all. Karl could be in the hospital up to 10 days. So after I drop him off I won’t see him again until I pick him up to bring him home. This is a very big surgery to go thru all alone. I will be called every 2 hours during surgery to be given updates and daily during his hostipal stay. I’ll send out an update Wednesday night or Thursday after surgery.

Prayer Request

Please keep Fred Birk, his mother and father in your prayers.  Fred sent the message below with concerns for his mother and asked for prayers for himself as he is so far away from his parents.  They live in Iowa.  Thank you.

My dad called and said my mom was vomiting last night. This morning he told me that they are in the ER. She’s fallen a few times and there is blood in her urine and on PET scan.  Please pray for answers and for me as I am so far away from my parents.

Thanks

Fred

Prayer Request

Please keep Rick Wright’s father in your prayers. Received the email below regarding a fall he has taken and serious medical condition. Pray fir answers and comfort for the family. Thank you.

Good evening
Please put Rick’s dad in your prayers. He fell in the assisted living center where he lives. The nurse didn’t know how long he was laying there. They took him to the local hospital where they ran tests. They discovered he has some bleeding in the brain. They told Rick’s sister that he is gravely ill.
Pray for this family as they go through this during the covid time and the Holidays. I believe and know prayers help.

Thanks and love,
Fred and of course Rick

Update and Continued Prayers

Received the update from Bonnie below on Karl Zeggert and his health situation.  Please continue to keep Karl and Bonnie in your prayers as they go through the next steps to make him better.

I’m singing praises for this past week!  Both the cardiologist and pulmonologist approved the surgery for my husband, Karl.  They say that his lungs are strong and his heart is strong what more can you ask for. Thank you for your prayers, I was able to accompany him to both appointments and he was calm. All praises belong to God!
