Put God First

Hollydale UMC will gather in-person this Sunday morning, October 18th at 11am for worship!  Last Sunday’s worship was spirit filled with the message of Real Joy.  Pastor Hull will share the message “Put God First”, with scripture reading from Matthew 22:15-22.  We hope to see you there!  Please note there will be no singing of hymns to avoid the spread of germs and viruses, which is part of Phase I of the return to worship guidelines of the North GA UMC Conference.  We will have our great Music Director, Fred Birk, playing the piano for us!  

We pray you will consider coming to worship in person on Sunday! 

After services this Sunday, we will hold our called Church Conference in the fellowship hall.  We invite and encourage all to attend a brief meeting with the church leaders to cover church leadership for 2021 and reports that will be submitted with the District Charge Conference that will be the following Sunday.  We need your support!

Food Pantry for Seniors

Public Service announcement…….This is a post from one of your local Cobb County agencies that was shared on Nextdoor Digest…. Someone may need assistance…..

Drive-up food pantry for seniors on Thursday, Oct. 1. Cobb Senior Services holds drive-up service for Cobb residents age 60 and older to get shelf stable food. An ID showing date of birth and Cobb County home address for each senior being served is required upon arrival. No appointment needed. These events take place 11 a.m. - noon pm, or while supplies last, rain or shine. Thursday, October 1 at Mountain View Aquatic Center, 2650 Gordy Pkwy, Marietta 30066 (just off Sandy Plains Rd.)

When Your Faith is Tested

This upcoming Sunday, October 4th, is Communion Sunday and communion will be served during the in-person worship service.  For those unable to attend the 11:00 service, Pastor Hull has communion elements available for pickup this week from 8:30 am – 1:00 pm, Wednesday – Friday at the church.  Stop by, say hello and pick up your communion elements.  Communion will also be part of the Facebook Live service starting about 11:30 am.  Please join us!  

Pastor Hull’s message this Sunday will be“When Your Faith is Tested” and scripture reading will come from Matthew 4:1-11.  Hope you can join us either in-person or via our Facebook Live broadcast.  God’s going to be there!  Have a BLESSED week!

By God’s Authority

It was so great to see so many in church last Sunday!!!

Hollydale UMC will gather in-person this Sunday morning, September 27th!  Pastor Hull will share the message “By God’s Authority”, with scripture reading fromMatthew 21:23-27.  We hope to see you there!  Please note there will be no singing of hymns to avoid the spread of germs and viruses, which is a recommendation of the North GA UMC Conference and the CDC.  We will have our great Music Director, Fred Birk, playing the piano for us!   

As mentioned in an earlier email, the church has been cleaned and sanitized and we have hand sanitizer stands placed in each building as well as mask for those that may not have one.  Mask are highly recommended, but if you have health issues that prohibits you from using one, we understand.  We are removing the hymnals and Bibles from the pews so there isn’t frequent touching.  The service, music and scripture will be shared on the screen during the service.  Signage will be installed relating to COVID-19 guidelines and safe distancing practices.  We will also be marking the pews to have safe social distancing and restrooms will be monitored for cleaning when needed during service.  A cleaning of the sanctuary will be done after the worship service as well.

A Special Opportunity for Prayer

A special opportunity and message from Dan Wier, Hollydale’s Lay Leader. The links are provided below the message. 

As the Lay Leader at Hollydale UMC, I wanted to lift up the possibility of a couple of upcoming events available on Saturday, Sept. 26th, in order to pray for our nation and the world.  One, Prayer March 2020, is hosted by Rev. Franklin Graham, and the other is hosted by Jonathan Cahn, called The Return.  They promise to be reflections of our current age and circumstances as a nation and the call for change to reflect on our responsibility as Christians and followers of The Way to bring us through the turmoil.  I have included links to each of the events just below.  I believe this will be a means of seeing this present day more clearly and empowering our members to seize the opportunity to reflect on and act on what our faith teaches us.

Accepting God’s Grace

Seed for the Soul

Greetings all.  It is now the season of preparation for Hollydale UMC.   We as pastors have been given permission by the Bishop to start re- gathering under the conditions that our conference has outlined.  There is much to do before we can announce a date; however, I am excited that it is now in our hands to set the target date.  Let us now be about the work of preparing, gathering, ordering, and communicating the essential things needed for Phase I of our return to public worship.  There is a word for this Sunday as well. “Seed for the Soul“   Matthew 13: 18-23

Rest for the Weary

Good morning.  As this week progresses, my prayer is that you are finding the strength, determination and faith to see the rainbow at the end of this pandemic or whatever life has challenged you with this week. To celebrate this upcoming Communion Sunday, July 5th, Pastor Hull is making himself available on Wednesday & Thursday from 8:30 am – 1:30 pm at the church to hand out a prepackaged wafer & juice so that all who want can join in communion on Sunday morning.  The elements have already been blessed and available for pickup during that timeframe.  If you are unable to go to the church to get yours, please let us know and we can arrange to bring it to you.  Also, if you want, you can use your own cracker/wafer and juice to join with us in communion.  We pray all are doing well and taking care of yourselves.  

The leaders of Hollydale are working on how we can safely return to in-person worship services this month and details will be made available soon.  A lot to cover as it relates to keeping our property safe and sanitized!  

A gentle reminder…Offerings have been a little down.  You can continue paying your offering by going to our website and clicking on GIVE and pay through our PayPal account, or mail your donations to the church at the address below. We are checking the mail several days a week, and process any monies received.  Thank you for your continued support!
